Another HEB day... and the most important thing you need

"Don't forget your smile, pretty girl."

I was in the HEB parking lot. I had just arrived and I was going to get my shopping cart from one of the basket house thingys. (I'm the kind of mom who likes to get everything situated and 'just so' before I enter the store so I'm not in everyone's way. Depending on the trip, it can sometimes take a few minutes...)

I turned around and saw a  young guy standing a few cars away from mine. "Come on, let me see you smile." He said again. "That smile is beautiful... Have a good day, pretty girl." Then he turned around and got into his car and I went to do my grocery shopping. 

I would be the last person to know if he was trying to hit on me... but I don't think he was. I think he was just a nice person and wanted to share some happiness. I wasn't in a bad mood or unhappy this morning... but I do have a habit of getting caught up in my thoughts and probably do lose the smile on my face as I sort out all the chaos in my head. You know what I mean, right?

It kind of made an impact on me though... I tried to do what he said... After all, it was a genuine compliment and nothing makes a girl walk a little higher! I smiled a lot while I was shopping and tried to be kinder to the other shoppers. Hopefully some of my good vibes rubbed off :)

Its easy to get caught up in everyday tasks and to-do lists, making sure we have everything when we leave the house (especially if you have kids!)... And I'm totally guilty of this!...Its easy to forget one of the most important things that can turn a bad day into a good day... your smile.

So whoever... wherever random HEB parking lot guy is... Thank You.
